When you're the lead, you get the spot.

Thanks Kelly,

I'll recheck things.

This is a pp faux spotlight, so it is intended to have some uber-bright, "Hollywood Glam" area that falls off. However, "all slightly bright" isn't quite what I was going for. I was looking to present the falloff via the spindles, ranging from nearly specular light to nearly abyss dark.

This is beautifully composed Kent, and I find the lighting a little mysterious in a good way. You have treated us with three wonderful images, from different genres, all at once.

Thanks Steve.

Here's the ooc (mono in camera) if you'd like to compare / play (and a rev B).
The ooc shows the alignment of upper level / reflected mirror lines better than the "glam" version. But, I thought I'd forego emphasis on the alignment in favor of tonal gradation.

I kinda dig on the spindles playing different "lighting tones". I may need to revise things yet, to get a better gradation for each spindle, but hopefully you get the gist.

Imo, it's a bit like climbing the musical scale, i.e. climbing the light scale (inversely) on the staircase, while descending into the spotlight.

Shouldn't there be a chainsaw in the frame somewhere this time of year?

"Fixed the newel post!"

Nicely seen and captured Kent!

Though one to judge on a non calibrated monitor but I think I like your Rev B.
Only nit is the specular highlights at the bottom that draw attention. Minor nit though as the overall image outweighs the neg.

Kent, this is just magical as presented. The tones, the composition are spot on IMO.

Thanks Dave,

Yeah, I picked up on the "extra" specular highlights when looking at Rev B. Apparently, there is a second window (from other direction) that these were coming from. I'll probably want to clean up the second light source pieces a bit before I do anything with it, to reduce things to a more congruous "single spot" without the "tells" of the extraneous light.

Thanks Ben,

Those are very kind words. I don't get "magical" very often.

Much to like, Kent.

I am liking a middle point between your OP and rework.

My nit would be that I'd like more light hitting the post ball as to provide more separation from the background.

On my monitor the re-work is more successful (to my taste). Goodness, looking at the SOOC, your post looks like it was a lot of work!
