p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Windows 10 pro creators update font size on 4k

I recently purchased a benq sw320. Screen is very nice but the font is way too small. In version 1703 of windows 10 pro they have taken away the ability to keep the scaling at 100% but change the font size. Is there a way around this? Anyone have this issue? Fixes? Very frustrated and about to return monitor and buy a 5k iMac. If I up the scaling then the photos all look bad. If I keep it at 100% then the font size is minute. It is crazy small in creative cloud PS also.

Thank you for the post but I don't think this helps. I saw this already. Of course I could be misreading this. I know how to change the scaling but the new update changes the scaling of everything at once. Meaning it changes the size of the font, pics, etc. they have removed the ability to separately change the font while keeping pics at 100%. If I missed that in the link please let me know what I should be looking at. Thanks.

Option 2, but I forgot that Microsoft removed the font part. Try this one instead:

or use a utiliy like Winaero Tweaker or similar. Really sucks that Microsoft decided what's best for the user without asking them.

Follow the 2 steps in this link.

While doing things like making registry changes can be intimidating to some, it is really quite simple. And his instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. It took me less than 5 minutes to fix the problem with PS and 4K screen.

With Windows 10 these days you can override Photoshop High-resolution display scaling and use Windows Display scaling without the need to do what is posted there. All that is needed now is a Windows 10 Shortcut to start a Photoshop version and in its compatibility tab Override high DPI scaling behavior. Change Scaling Preformed by: Application to System (Enhanced).

If your photos look "bad" then check to see that you are viewing at 1:1 pixels rather than 1:1 inches. Confirm it by multiplying the measured inches on-screen by the DPI of your monitor, and comparing that to the pixel dimension of the photo file.

My copy of Ps is behaving "as always" without using any compatibility settings.
i.e., I have set Ps preferences for UI scaling to 200% and UI Font Size to Large, and they control how Ps "looks". However, no matter what settings I apply for the UI, Ps always displays images at 1 image pixel : 1 screen pixel when image size is set at 100% in Ps (or Lr Classic CC).

I understood it did that because it bypassed the Windows drawing routines and wrote directly to the hardware. Whether or not that is the case, the result is the same; the user interface is not fully controllable but the images are displayed with the 1:1 pixel ratio no matter what the Windows scaling or Ps UI scaling are set to.

That's a big plus for Ps when I'm trying to assess the image without Windows scaling getting in the way, but not so good if I'm trying to see the image at actual physical size (1:1 inches instead of 1:1 pixels).

I'm now on Windows 10 version 1709, and Ps CC 2018.
