Friend of mine had several Leica M mount items stolen from his car yesterday. Items included:

Leica m240 Camera ser#4702487
Leica 35/2
Leica 50/2 dr
Zeiss 21/2.8
Voightlander 35/1.2

All were chrome versions. If you run across anything suspicious, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jim

Sorry to hear that! I have no experience or association with this site, but it is worth trying anything at this point!

I use LensTag for my gear. And Binded.com for copyright stuff.

They have had success contributing to the recovery of stolen gear.

Sux. I've heard a lot of bad stories about photographers getting robbed, usually camera gear they had on their person. Hope he is able to recover the gear.

I am sorry to hear that . There is no two-way about it, getting your gear stolen simply sucks! Some times my shooting buddies look at me kind of weird when I take my gear with me if we go to grab something to eat in a restaurant but I don't want to experience that first hand...

My wife gives me grief all the time about taking gear into stores and restaurants, but no way I am leaving it in the car.

If you live in Bay Area, don't leave anything in the car especially in San Francisco.

San Francisco and Oakland have many camera thefts from cars, and earlier this year a German tourist was killed and his camera stolen when he was photographing one afternoon in the Twin Peaks observation and parking area. I carry my gear in the SF Bay area in generic nylon gym bag. I try to avoid both areas at night.
