Any opinion about Scottish train tours or on your own? Would May or September be better months to go. Did you have time or opportunity to photograph if on a tour? Thanks for any advice.

Once I took the train up to Fort William and hiked Ben Nevis, otherwise known as the highest cloudy spot in the UK.

No photos up top because of clouds, some interesting ones on the way down and around town.

There is an overnight train. Reflections make it impractical to photograph from the train. I also discovered that long-distance buses can be faster and cheaper.

Years ago I took the overnight sleeper from London to Inverness. Still had to rent a car to see the Highlands. Went in May and the weather was great.
