So I am taking delivery of a 850 and am thinking about the XQD cards to use, I currently have Sony 32 gb Series cards. I am trying to decide between the 64 or the 128 gb cards, anyone find good deals on either of these size cards?

I'm using the Sony G series 128 gb. About 1200 shots RAW @14 bit. I would avoid the M series, they are way too slow for the D850.

In short, there are no deals. I just bought a used Sony G series 64gb from adorama on eBay for $70 shipped. Normally I would never buy a used card, but these are pretty robust and it is less risky than just shooting to an SD card alone.

I got a heck of a deal on an "open box" from Adorama but it's a crap shoot as they're in short supply at the moment. I got the 256gb card for $249.

Love my Sony 256 GB - the minimum I'd want with the D850 is 128GB if I was shooting any kind of wildlife or action. They do fill up fast!

Steve, which SD card are you using, I typically set up duplicate cards and the issue with running 256gb XQD is it's hard to find fast 256gb SD cards. I'm currently going to use 256gb sandisk extreme pro 95mb cards until they make a 300mb card in the 256gb size... suggestions?

I wish that I'd have bought a couple grand worth of XQD cards like 9 months ago...could make a killing on eBay since the pandemonium caused by the D850 release and Lexar announcing that they were closing up shop.

I wish the D850 was XQD and CompactFlash... But I'm probably the only one in the universe...

well, at least I'm happy that the SD card slot supports UHS-II which is still considerably faster then the fastest CF card maintaining a somewhat higher overall performance.

I would prefer 2 XQD cards, but that said I really like having the SD UHS-II. This means while I am traveling I can purchase SD UHS-II cards almost anywhere even in the book shop in small airports along with a card reader if I need to.

I have XQD 128 GM Sony which is about the minimum I would opt for now. I don't use the SD slot unless I am doing an important shoot and need the backup. This is great as often I can be with a computer without a XQD card reader and I can quickly copy the files from XQD to the SD card on the D850.

I only use the SD as backup, I have some UHS II Lexar card I got free with something or other that does the job. I've never overflowed to it.

I always do duplicates in case one card corrupts so just wish the SD card I had was a bit faster :-/. Camera arrives tomorrow so I'll see how it does!

In both the D500 and D850, I use the 300MB/sec 64GB Sandisk SD cards for backup. Main XQD cards are either Sony G series or Lexar 2933x, both 64GB. The smaller cards are slightly faster than the bigger ones, and there's less data to lose if it goes bad. If I don't fill the buffer, then I don't notice a slowdown: I have my Ch limiter to stop at 5 frames anyway, so it's not that easy to fill the buffer even at 10FPS.

The company that took over Lexar has announced that they're going to produce XQD cards again, but it will take a few weeks before they'll be on dealer's shelves. Once Lexar is in stock again, the Sony prices should come back down.

I've been using xqd since they came out ever had one fail yet. of course is always that chance. but you know what I'm in Japan right now shooting not even thinking about it with my 64GB cards (~650 14 bit raw). 32GB UHS II (overflow) sitting there in the camera untouched. in a few weeks Lexar will be back on the market and the 25% increased in price Sony cards (dealers choice) will no longer be the one and only and prices will start to moderate.
