Took a little time warp out with my new lens today to give it a test run.

There was even a Viking dude running around complete with a sword, shield and cape. I have no idea what was up with that, but I suspect a little crack may have been involved.

This is but one that I came home with.

Thoughts? Does my processing work?

Dave

Dave, beautiful job. I have the impression that it's a magical place.

So Dave, how do you like the new lens? How would you compare it to the 16-35 f4 IS?

Nice shot by the way, where abouts is that?

Regards,,,,,Pete

Thanks Steve! Good to hear this is working. Magical is a good description for the mood I was going for here.

Thanks Pete! This is an old bridge built in 1820 not far from my house. It's supposedly the oldest bridge in SC.

It's still too early to make an informed call but from what I'm seeing so far, I'd say they are very similar IQ wise. I just finished doing my AFMA Saturday and got it all dialed in. It feels strange only having 24mm to work with on the short end compared to 16mm but I think I'm really going to enjoy the new reach that my 16-35 didn't have. I didn't get a chance to put it through the paces on the long end this weekend but I'm looking forward to better compression on scenes where I can use the extra reach. I did notice in LR when I applied lens corrections that the 24-70 f/4 seems to have much more vignette than my 16-35 f/4 has. Not a major concern, just something I noticed.

Wow! Thanks Ben! I'll take that kind of feedback anyday.
I wasn't sure how my processing would go over but tried to apply some of the tricks I have learned here. I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

This is just fine in its strength and power and in its all encompassing spiritual presence.

Wonderful work Dave, love the atmosphere and magical quality.

One thought, maybe tone down the water at lower right corner?

Thanks Bob! Glad it's working for you as well. I was wondering about that area of the water and had turned it down a little but I agree it does pull a little too much and could stand another bump down.

Just finished another version viewing this from the other side and will post for some feedback.

Excellent, Dave. Lots to love about this one. Even the little sliver of color upper-right works (initially I wanted it gone), which surprises me.

I could use some more exposure in the lower-right, potential a small boost overall. Maybe even just kicking up the whites would do it?

Nice lens, better pic.

Well thanks Jeff! That always good to hear.

Good catch! I just gave it a little bump here and there and I think it did improve.

Whatcha think?

Dave,

Viewing on the crappy work monitor now but things look nicer here. I will chime in again once I get this on the good one at home.
