Nice shots! We get them in the spring down here but I don't think I have ever seen any heading back down south before.

Excellent set Steve and a great find. The second would be over the top if you had the feet. Still a great example of how effective subject echo is.

Thanks Morris. Framing is an issue I still struggle with. My position was initially too far away even at 600mm but I didn't want to spook them so I sat down and waited. Before I knew it both birds where jogging straight at me and I couldn't zoom out fast enough to keep them in frame. 5 seconds later the opportunity had passed. Any tips?

Yeah, don't worry about part of your subject being cut off. It is often a case of getting that kind of shot or no shot at all.
Sometimes you can crop those shots so that they look better as just head shots.
