Got my Tamron 45/1.8 VC in today. I love this little lens. Great sharpness wide open, great close focus. AF is okay (not really fast but about as fast as my 24-120, which I'm okay with).

Lovely ! Bookeh transition seems natural and smooth on this lens. If only I did not have so much overlap, and few are already in the 'next' cue in this focal length, I would have been interested in looking into this lens.

Thanks Luka and yes the lens renders quite nicely so far. Hoping to put it to more work this weekend.

For me it is perfect : 45mm (50mm to me is just slightly cramped, I prefer lowmid 40mm), nice bokeh, sharp, and 1:3 macro, which is fine for me. VC is just a bonus. Lens is actually not small, but not overly large).

Cross post from my short Tamron 45/1.8 review. Really, really like this lens The beer? No so much (I mean, it's OKAY but I prefer browns and reds).

Charles, I like this bread shot better than the other one (in the 850 thread), where the light comes from the right. The shadows from the bread slices make this photo more appealing to me

Very nice Charles!

Hiking with my kids up a short trail to a 'waterfall', which I expected to be dry. Nope, it was at a trickle but since it was so cold, it was freezing Very cool surprise for us.

I did learn that I have to re-thinking how to change Nikon lenses in the field - the release on the left side of the body throws me off.

Thank you Smitty, Darrin

Yes I agree I prefer the naturally lit shot better and is what we used

LOVE that first shot, and the absence of the mysterious man in the last shot. Drama !
