Managing to capture the take-off full frame is a challenge indeed. Nicely done.

Very nice shots. Nicely done.

I was reading a blog the other day where a photographer was saying he didnt need a fast (fps) camera on a safari as most wildlife is either stationary or slow moving. True to a certain extent, but then He'd certainly miss opportunities like this one. It pays to be prepared with the right gear.

I like the pictures but I do think they have been over-sharpened; I can see bright halos around the beak and tail. If it wasn't sharpening then some other processing has caused it.

Just goes to show what you can get with a bit of luck coupled with the right gear, knowing how to use it, and of course being there. I wonder, have they been cropped a lot ? Or, put another way, how close did you get to the bird ?

My somewhat limited experience with a 600mm lens was that it offered relatively little in terms of benefit over a much more portable 300, 400 or 500mm lens, because I still could not get close enough to the more exotic wild birds to avoid lots of cropping.
