I believe there is more than one species of similar appearance but this is the one in most books. The species grows on dead wood of various hardwood trees, Oak being the most usual, but probably not the case here. The wood is stained green and these fruiting bodies are produced.

I opted for daylight exposure which left the IS struggling.

Olympus EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x 2TC, Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/13 sec f9 ISO 1000, daylight, hand-held.

The stereo is crosseye.

They are found, maybe just the one colony, regularly during our deciduous woodland surveys.
