Some photos of wolves from my summer trip to Yellowstone. You can appreciate just how "wild" they really are!

Comments always welcome.

The fence and closeness makes it feel that way. Real nice images either way

Yes. I tried two days to capture photos of wolves and grizzlies in nature and finally went to the place above. BUT as the sun was setting (right before they closed), all of the wolves got into a howling session for a couple of minutes and that was worth the price of admission. I wish I thought to record it on my cell phone quick enough because it was amazing, but I was too late.

I did get one grizzly hiding in some brush along the Yellowstone River (earlier post), but you couldn't see him very well.

All of their animals are "wild" animals. Most have been rescued from certain death from injuries suffered, go through the healing process and if they can be released, they are, and if being released would mean certain death, they just keep them there to live-out the rest of their lives. The wolves in these photos were born in another facility unrelated to this facility, but it was over-crowded so this facility took them in. For one reason or another, they could not be released into the wild. They do everything they can to simulate a natural environment from putting live trout in the stream that runs through their pen to feeding them wild elk and deer provided by hunters that they hide for the wolves and the bears to forage for.

Don,
That's one of my favorite photos and one of my best wildlife captures! Unlike dogs which just show their teeth, these guys show their entire jaws, I've never seen anything like that before. I guess that's why they are a danger to humans and domestic animals like cattle and dogs, cats, etc. It's a true sign of significant aggression or "I'll tear you apart if you don't back-off."

I took about 75 photos of these guys, but these were some of the most interesting and I got a couple of others with her jaws showing like that, but that was the most dramatic.
Thanks Don.
Bill
