What brand CF and SD cards do you all recommend now? I had been using the 1000x+ CF and SD cards from Lexar but that doesn't seem like a smart choice now that the name has been sold off.

Or SanDisk, naturally. Up to you.

true that. pretty much most others are question marks for consistency and "performance".

I'm using Transcend now, have been for years with no regrets with zero problems in fact I haven't bought any new cards in a couple of years. I have too many cards and no need to upgrade/purchase.

Prior to Transcend I was using Sandisk with no problems or issues either, still have several as they all still work. I only migrated to Transcend as the cost per card is quite a bit cheaper.

It seems that memory cards can be like camera brands, everyone has their favorite flavor. I'm sure there is probably some cheap junk out there, I haven't bought any yet....

I use a mix of Transcend and SanDisk, according to which had the best price/performance for my application, at the time of purchase. Yesterday, I bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro 160/150 CF card for my new 5DS. Seemed to be the best price for one of the fastest cards on that camera.

In the US the Lexar 128GB CF in the 2-pack are rather less expensive than two SanDisk 128GB CF. CF is dead though.

Who knows what will happen with the newer brands and whether WD will continue with SanDisk cards, but I expect they will. SanDisk was always king of the UHS-I SD cards.

I have well over 2TB of fast CF and am not moving on yet. It is difficult mainly due to the cost of memory cards ($3000-4000 for 2TB), buy also that PSDs are dying off.

Maybe I will use a D850 if they can make a better 80-400, or I could use the Sony a7RIII, or the 5Ds II will have a different card.

CF is dead for my future in any scenario.

Yeah, it's too bad my 1DIV and 5DS don't support UHS-II; otherwise, I'd be CF-free, too.

I guess I might give the new Lexar a try with a card or two. I also found some extra cards in my card wallet I didn't realize I had, so that is always a plus. I had forgotten I bought some extras when I thought I was going to shoot a 3 day motorcycle event.

I've had good luck in the past with Transcend SD cards but had never tried one of their fast CF cards. Might give one of those a try as well.

Last, is it just me or have CF cards become somewhat expensive lately? I paid like $45 for my 64gb 1066x cards this spring and now they are close to $90 each no matter what vendor you are looking at.

I'm patiently awaiting new Lexar XQD stock....I'm not going to pay Sony what they want unless there is no other option.

when both were around they were within $5-10 of each other. the Sony price will fall. by the way, its not paying Sony, its the dealers who are doing what the market does best supply and demand pricing.

Iíve used Lexie for the past 3 or 4 years and have been happy with them. No reason to change for me unless I need to. If I was to, Iíd probably go Sandisk.
