You have the a6500 and one lens;

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN $290

or

Sony 10-18mm f/4 $650

?

The Sigma and add a Samyang 12/2 to help placate your UWA dreams until you can afford the 10-18mm.

Damn. Molson offered me that lens when I bought this body from him. I think it's a pretty versatile way to go, I just have never been one for lenses that extend when zooming.

I think this wide angle would be a real treat to use. I wish it were less expensive though. I have never corrected distortion in post do you think I would have to learn to do that to enjoy my images?

I have the a6000 and owned 2 copies of the Sigma 30/1.4
Nice lens but mine had af issues at f2, and only at f2. Very strange, maybe something with my a6000 but Sigma acknowledged the issue after I had sent loads of test shots, when they came back after more test images I had already returned it.

No one else afaik had this issue

The E10-18/4 also extended, although very little compared to the 16-70/4.

Completely different lenses you're asking about.

Never used the Sigma but the Sony is great and I use it professionally for real estate.

It depends on what you shoot and whether it's an issue for you. I shot the Canon 24-105 for a long time and the distortion never bothered me much.

If you really want the 10-18 but the cost is a deterrent, you could always buy a used copy on the Buy and Sell board, or you could try Greentoe and make an offer that you feel comfortable with.

I have the 10-18 and wouldn't be without it, especially as it has OSS for my Nex and 6300 bodies.

Throw a picture you took with it up for us. I'm leaning towards the 10-18

It's a one lens solution and a very decent lens. I recommended it to a friend and he loves his.

Those are all 10-18mm lens pics huh? Wow they're nice! Thank you! There's a local guy here asking $680 USD for that lens, seems a bit high or is that an ok price?

To the OP:
Three lenses will give you a very nice kit; Sony 10-18/4, Sigma 30/1.4 and Sigma 60/2.8. Buy them in the order you can afford them.

Skip the Sony/Zeiss 16-70/4, it's not worth the asking price. The zoom range is too wide to make a good lens.

I looked for a decent price on that 16-70,found two local at $1000 & $1100 CAD seems a lot considering I could get a 70-200/4 for dollars more

Yes of course they are all 10-18 ...

I think choosing the FL range depends on your style; ie if you favour UWA to WA go for the 10-18 and get WA-normal later, if you prefer WA-normal go for a fixed or zoom WA-normal but consider an UWA zoom or fixed later.

hey. if money is tight, and you are are open to adapted lenses, the canon 10-18 stm can be had refurbished for about 250. You can buy a smart adapter for 50. so for 300 you have yourself a 10-18 lens with IS, and pretty good image quality, which is light and small.

Between the two offered I would say 10-18.

But if the cost of that gives you pause consider the Samyang 12/2. It's small, sharp, fast and cheap ($300 US). Great landscape and Nightscape lens. Then add a kit lens or Sigma prime and you are set.

I love mine on my NEX 6. A buddy of mine has an A6000. He was never happy with his landscape images on the kit lens. Then he tried my Samyang 12/2. He bought his own the next day.
