Just curious to find what others have observed, and would appreciate responses from members who have actually used BOTH lenses.

I have the 24-70/4L and have not used it much. I have the 45/TS-E coming and expect to use it mainly for landscape and some architecturals where the FOV is sufficient to cover the subject.

Thank you in advance

dan

I've not used the 24-70/4L IS, but I've got the original 24-70/2.8L and the 24-105L IS (and used the new 24-70/2.8L II). I also own the 45 TS-E.

I've had some terrific results with the 45 TS-E.

It does have some aberrations that result in color fringing CA (easily corrected in PP), it also has weakness near the edge of the image circle when shifted -- more than the other TS-E lenses, but not a real problem. If you need as much shift as possible with least softness and vignette, use between f/11 and 16.

I find the images are beautiful in a Leica sort of softness wide open and at closer focusing distances. Kind of dreamy, but with excellent color -- sort of a spherical aberration effect. The lens gets very nicely sharp around f/5.6.

Enjoy!

Thanks Jim (Gunzorro). This is a very informative reply

I am really excited and will give the lens a good workout when it arrives.
