#2 nope. Not working for me at all. The face cut in half and the funky processing artifacts along the right edge hurt it too much to have any love for that one.
Perhaps if you cropped down from the top to just below the man's waist and then cleaned up the remaining artifacts? This would make it a little more intimate and direct the viewer to the child.
