Having gone through the exact same dilemma, I am really enjoying RX10 IV so far. I have owned similar setups like you and whenever I went out somewhere I ended up with the whole kit "just in case" which neither was fun nor made me take any more pictures than I would have with just one camera/lens. With RX10's zoom flexibility and great IQ (for the sensor size), it's a one camera solution that works for most of the picture taking scenarios. For more challenging situations, I still have the Fuji kit (which I plan to eventually sell).

B&H had a used one for $1445, so count me in. Previously enjoyed the Nikon p900 (thought certainly not a directly comparable camera) for things like a casual walk around a nature preserve, the zoo etc, so the Rx10 should work great in that role as well.
I've also gone the MFT route, with the EM1.2, GX8, etc (was looking at the G9 too), and lens like the 100-400 and 100-300, which all bring some nice bang for the buck, and reasonable size, however those often feel a bit into the "too much/not enough" type of kit for me.
What I mean by that is when I'd take, say the Em1.2 and the 100-400, it would be great for shooting more distant subjects, or close-ups of closer subjects, BUT, starting at 200mm equiv means there are a lot of wider shots your missing, so you either accept your just taking shots of birds and such, or you carry another wider lens to pair with it, if not two lenses.
This means then your carrying a bag with you as well, and when you've got a bag, might as well toss a few other extra in there, and now you've gone from casual walk mindset, to mindset of "I'm hauling around photo gear, better make some good photos", which is fine and good if its what you set off to do, but was it the original intention ?
Outcome of such trips, for me at least, is that when I end up carrying a few lenses and such, is I often end up wishing I just went "all in" so to speak, and brought the XT2 with 100-400, or a D500 with 200-500 etc, which not to knock other formats, do have better AF, better high ISO, better DR etc. They are bigger/heavier sure, but if I'm already carrying a MFT kit around, might as well go all the way. Anyone have that thought process as well ?
So, that brings me to the RX10 IV, which while not that small/light, does provide a good degree of simplicity in having one lens which can cover a very wide range of subjects, should focus fast and accurately, will produce acceptable IQ (based on samples I've seen) and should be enough of a mental distinction between "walk around camera" and "full kit" for me to not go into full-on 'photographer mode', as my wife calls it, when we are out hiking and such....Show more →
