p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Oystercatchers and Sanderlings

After discovering that Hurricane Jose had created a wall at the ocean's edge along Nickerson Beach, I returned the next day at high tide and was able to get down low the way I like as I was not trapped between the hurricane created waves and a wall. In the second image I moved the birds to the right in Photoshop. All the others have minimum editing.

Nice low angle on these. I especially like #4 with the oystercatcher looking up, great pose!

Delightful set Morris! You got some great "expressions" and your angle / proximity make these just plain fun to look at! #6 & 7 are my picks.

Thanks for posting.

Wonderful images, Morris. I really like your low shooting perspective, and I think your editing of image two was really nicely done! Images 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8 are my favorites. I like the similarity of poses in image 6.

Great set of low, low shots Morris. I like the one with both species in it showing the size differences. Nice that the leg band at least matches the bill

Thank you Greg,
Yes that is different. I bunch of sanderlings were flying over it

Thank you Kim,
The mixed species is a nice change and shows the size difference. Subject echo is a great compositional tool

Thank you Keith,
You are going for the mixed species shot as well. The specular highlights in the last makes for a very pretty image

Thank you Geoff,
The Audubon scientists that band them must have thought of that

Outstanding set of bird images Morris. Those Sanderlings are irresistible. I have taken hundreds of shots of them but continue to snap away every time I see them. My wife and I were at Barnegat Lighthouse last Friday and I was hoping to see a few Oystercatchers but no luck.
