Has anyone had any experience with using external power through a dummy battery, such as the indipro dummy batteries?

Something like this

I've also seen one called 'tether tools rock solid' or something along those lines.

Wanting to extend the battery life for time-lapse and video work, and already have canon gear, so using my existing canon batteries is appealing,

Sony makes a 4X battery charger (NPA-MQZ1K Multi Battery Adapter Kit) with a captive battery that fits inside the camera for wall power. About 400$.

The one you linked to appears to be for Sony's SLT line of cameras not the A7 series.

If your camera is an A7ii, A7rii or A7Sii I think your supposed to be able run them on USB power using any basic external usb power pack (like the ones for cellphones), that's probably the cheapest option. Otherwise the Sony option Soundhound mentions is a good but expensive option.
