p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · First high school football game of season

I was able to shoot my first high school football game of the season a couple of weeks ago. I was interested in seeing how the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 lens would handle the action, especially with sunset happening around 7:20pm and the game kicking off at 7pm. With all the action in my corner of the field in the 1st quarter, I could have probably just used my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 instead, but I didn't switch to it until in the 2nd quarter.

Those are great photos. Maybe a tad bright for #1 & #3.

I'm shocked you can get such good images at f5.6 at sunset. I struggle mightily at f2.8.

1... consider a 2:3 crop. The extra room on the sides are not helping.
2... soft, washed out, and a poor crop.
3... your best shot in the series, but WB is cool, photo is washed out, and it's soft.
