How many RX1R ii shooters use a ND filter for bright conditions? I have read a few things saying that because of the shutter speed it helps in really bright light.

The RX1RII's maximum shutter speed is 1/2000s. So, you are planning on shooting in bright light wide open, you may need a 1 or 2-stop ND filter to achieve proper exposure.

that's at f/2. if you shoot at f/4 or smaller the max shutter speed is 1/4000.

i've never used one on my rx1 classic, the dynamic range is sufficient for me to pull back the blown highlights even wide open at the beach.

I have the Zeiss 49mm polarizer. I'm pretty sure that may give me the same 2 stops as a dedicated ND filter, correct?

closer to 1.5 stops i believe, but yeah that should be fine in my experience.

You can also drop the ISO to 50 if you know it's going to be bright out.

This is in the expanded ISO range, so not sure if there's a detriment to IQ, but I'm generally doing casual snaps if I'm shooting at f/2 on the beach!

...and I agree with sebboh--the files give you a lot of flexibility with highlights, at least if you're shooting raw (also using the RX1 classic)

I do. When the going gets tough. I use a cp more often than the nd though.
