p.2 #9 · p.2 #9 · New TechArt AF adapter: Canon EF to Fujifilm GFX unveiled! | |
newest review of the Techart by Jim Sullivan on GFX FB.
I can’t answer as for one versus the other, but I can tell you that Techart saying their adapter works with “all modern Canon lenses” is not true. The 100-400 II is a sh!tshow on this adapter and unusable in my opinion. Errors range from stupid-long startup time (has to cycle from infinity to MFD and back to infinity at startup - at 100mm takes about a second, but at 400mm takes about 6 seconds and mimics a lockup), aperture reads incorrectly (f/1.8 = f/4.5 for example), cannot reliably achieve accurate autofocus lock 25% of the time (increases to 50% if set at wider apertures for some inexplicable reason), when autofocus cannot lock on (red autofocus error in the viewfinder) the stabilization mechanism knocks HARD inside the lens, and the lens has to reset and cycle through the infinity to MFD and back again routine - an excruciatingly-long wait time for every 1 shot in 4. This last issue feels like over time it could even damage the lens. It’s a terrible sound. Also, whoever I read on here that reported that you get slight darkening in the corners beyond 100mm was wrong - this gives HARD hard dark corners that are unrecoverable in Lightroom beyond 100mm. // That said, my 40mm f/2.8 STM works well. I can’t recommend the Techart unless you only plan to use it with primes....Show more →
