I haven't been having very good luck getting sharply focused bees, so I was happy with this one.

The beetle was a bit more cooperative, which gave me the chance to play around with composition to try and do something a bit different.

Thoughts are always welcome.

Thanks.

I find the first to be a bit bland and prefer the unique perspective and composition of the second. However, as always, I am reasonably satisfied with anything that is well-lit and sharp .

Both very well done.

For the bee, I would crop out some of the left side, losing that patch of purple, and a bit from the bottom and possibly have the stem emerging from the bottom corner.

For the beetle (Longhorn?) I don't think we need to two stems on the right.

Thanks for the comments, Harold.

I think I agree about the bee cropping to simplify the composition.

I mulled over the idea of cropping out the grass on the right of the beetle, and I even took some vertically. I think I actually preferred the presence of the blades to make the shot a little different. We do all have our personal preferences, though, don't we.

Exactly! There is always the option of posting more than one version.
