p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Stop!

We were driving to Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone NP when traffic came to a standstill. When this happens in Yellowstone it always means that someone has spotted some type of wildlife and that everyone is slowing down and/or stopping to take photos. It's a very common occurrence resulting in rangers being dispatched to keep tourists back the minimum 25 yards and to direct traffic which can back up for 3 miles. As we approached we spotted a ranger standing 5 feet away from a group of elk keeping people away (Great example of keeping back 25 yards). I drove at about two MPH as this was the speed all the other cars were going and I was watching on the left side where the elk and ranger were. Then my wife yelled "Stop!" This elk walked out right in front of us. The photo was taken through the windshield.

After visiting Mammoth, we decided to drive to Gardner for dinner and on the way out I spotted some movement in the bushes along side the road in a very hilly area and pulled out in a tiny spot. It was big horn sheep.

Glad to see you had a chance to get up close and personal with our western wildlife. Unfortunately it is getting very hard to see bears in Yellowstone. The rangers work very hard to keep them away from people.

Quite a story Morris. The Elk through the windshield, tied into the word "Stop"....is my favorite.

Keep them coming.

Thank you Larry,
That's because of all the stupid people

Thank you Adhika,
The windshield was smeared with crushed bugs. A wide open lens helps
