Male house spider found in the bath - Tegenaria sp. Subjected to some photography before being released into my greenhouse.
5Dmk2/MPE-65/430Ex flash. All shots have been focus stacked using zerene.

We see spiders like this often. I showed these photos to my 7 year old grandson. He loved them! As we looked at the sequence, when we got to the last he said that was "crazy close!". Thanks for posting these interesting photos of a bug we see but have never really seen up close.

BTW, I am curious about how many shots you focus stack and how you set the focus. Do you do it manually?

Glad you and your son liked them

With a well behaved subject like this (ie it stayed still), I got upto about 10 shots for the biggest stack.
I'm hand holding the camera and use fixed focus and just move the camera towards the subject for eah focus slice. I make a mental not of where the subject is just OOF in the shot I'm doing and move the camera forward making sure that bit is in good focus for the next focus slice. I've had a lot of practice doing this and find it very quick and easy to do.
