The canyon / ravine we were hiking in a couple days ago was very dark, so the rushing water would blow out highlights unless everything around it was underexposed by 2-3 stops. I'd like opinions on whether this processing works for others as I may have fallen into the trap of editing until I made myself believe it's good.

it is interesting and a matter of aesthetic choice
for me, the blacks are too lacking in detail
on the other hand, this is a very busy scene and more detail might overwhelm

hope this helps

I think it looks realistic and certainly reflects the same exposure issues I've faced in those ravines. The only editing issue that catches my attention is that it looks "crunchy" from too much sharpening(?) but that could be just the results of posting. Nice place... Mike

I like the processing, but I'm a sucker for higher contrast and deep blacks.

Tough call. The ripples at bottom center are brighter and could be called "crunchy." Still I like the light that catches the water highlights on the rocks.

It's a seemingly simple image, that gets ever more complex as one studies it. I guess the real question is: how does it look compared to what you felt?

I think it works but would crop the bottom 1/4 to remove the crunchies.
