Not sure if this is the right forum so my apologies if I've chosen poorly. Anyway, here goes:

One of the things I do is car show signs. These are used by owners of classic/modified/high-end autos to list some features of their machines when they are put on public display. Here's a sample:

The signs are normally 20x30 metal prints and they've been well received, but the car guys are asking me to provide some way to display them that will withstand the rigors of a car show (spectators and wind being the chief concerns). I usually suggest, at a minimum, a cheap poster frame. This works well enough to protect the surface of the sign but I need to figure out a good way to make these frames stand on their own. Just leaning the frame against the car's grill is not a good option (can be knocked or blown over), and a traditional easel-back device wouldn't do much good for the same reasons.

I'm exploring using a hinged sheet metal contraption, but I'd welcome any other suggestions that might point me in a better direction.

Thanks.

EDIT for those who might not read beyond this post: "Litening" is not spelled wrong. Explanation below.

Can you drive some construction stakes into the ground and lean it on those?

Also Lightning is spelled wrong.

I'd look for heavy sign stands with a small footprint. Something you could slot the signs into?

Most of the shows are held on surfaces other than grass, so no.

Also Lightning is spelled wrong.

You would think...

According to the owner, that's how the word was spelled in the documentation that was used during the car's development (by Ford or Tasca, not sure which) and that's how he wanted it on the sign. Who was I to argue?

I'll look into it. Most sign stands elevate the sign and that's not what I need in this case. The cost also needs to be reasonable so it doesn't make the overall package too prohibitive.

Thanks.

That's what I was referencing above when I mentioned the cheap poster frame, but those are typically made to be hung so they're not self supporting.

No, like in front of a coffee shop, that sits on the ground.

Ok, got it. The ones I've seen so far have been kind of pricey but I'll keep looking.

Thanks.

Yeah, that type of thing. Heavy but with a small footprint. You could essentially epoxy some grooved window (joinery) aluminium to a tidy concrete paver as a cost-effective D.I.Y. solution.
