Dropbox no longer allows sharing links to web galleries so that a person clicking a link can view the web gallery. In the past, I've also relied on Dropbox's public folder to embed images in my posts on the Fred Miranda site and, it appears, this too is no longer available.

What service can you recommend as a replacement, please?

Flickr might be an option. I've got it working to FM-forums without too much hassle.

Google Photos might be another but I haven't tried it at all so it's just a guess.

Google Drive also works in that you can share a link to the gallery, either with one persons (using e-mail) or make it public which SHOULD work to FM, not sure though.

Those are my three alternatives, hope one of them works for you!

I use Zenfolio. Another good option it Photoshelter. Some like Smugmug.

When I decided to use Zenfolio, Photoshelter charged monthly for storage, now they offer unlimited RAW, TIF, JPG, PDE, and PDF storage for a flat rate.

I selected Zenfolio because they at least had unlimited JPG storage for a flat fee.

If I were starting today, I'd probably go with Photoshelter.

I switched to SmugMug this year and like it better than Zenfolio.
Some of my images were clearly less sharp after Zenfolio upload.

For around $60 a year you could have your own web server on the web and use it for whatever you want. There are many low-cost web server providers out there. Or you could use some of your cloud space Google will give you. You can also upload videos to youtube.

This is an enticing idea, but I know that I don't have time to learn to build and maintain a web presence. I suppose there are numerous parties viable for hire, and aside from not knowing where to begin, I suspect this makes the most sense.

I like Smugmug. Zero effort required to maintain, safe storage/backup of photos, easy retrieval downloads if necessary, legendary customer support, and easy sharing options. And it's cheap.

Cool. Would you mind sharing where the file sits in your DB folder architecture, and how to link that file here?

Do you have any experience attempting to share links to web galleries via Dropbox, by chance. Would be grateful to have your insights.

Many thanks,

John-

Thank you. At your suggestion, I have today tried to share Web gallery links via Google Drive. By this I mean that the Web Gallery assets created in the Lightroom Web Module are placed in a Google Drive folder, and the link to the gallery's Index.HTML files is shared. In doing that, the link takes the person clicking on that link to what looks like a text file. Here is an example:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B154BTIbQTtnOWw5d0xyb056LWs

When Dropbox allowed the Public folder, sharing a link to the Gallery's Index.HTML file would take the person viewing the link to the Web Gallery. That's the experience I'm wanting to recreate.

Many thanks for your kind assistance.

Smash is made by creatives, for creatives. That is my catchline, not theirs. It looks awesome, and the upload limit is infinity. Somehow it is free. It can't be beaten.

Here is a link to an individual photo in a Google Photos album. With any photo in Google Photos, you can click the share button and then "get link". You can also get a single link for a group of photos. Not sure that gets you where you want to go but it's free and their image presentation is nice.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear you can embed an image

... but rather you can only link to an image

I lost and gave up on both Dropbox and Box for storing stuff after a hacker somehow got into both and locked me out.

I continue to use Zenfolio and Smugmug without any issues. I probably should spend more time polishing the sites but mainly use them to store stuff and share stuff, much of the stuff isn't viewable to the public unless I chose so.
