Two images from a photo walk in Harford Glen nature Environmental Education Center in Bel Air, MD. I was looking for something more unique than most of the pictures that are taken there. Obviously had a little fun with the post processing on the first one.

I like both. I turned #1 right side up and liked it better.

creatively done!
I am a bit torn about the amount of bright negative space on the bottom. Probably right as it is, since alternatives would be perhaps a bit more predictable.
I would definitely eliminate the bright white band top of the second. Without it for me it evokes a Japanese styled painting of a waterfall. With plenty of textural elements.

Thanks Scott. The first image was meant to be a bit confusing but also symmetrical. There does appear to be a bit more white, and I'm sure I could tone it down slightly with another gradient as well.

The second image also had symmetry, but your suggestion is a good one. The white portion is distracting. I like how I could quickly see the difference by scrolling the browser!

Two fun images, Mark!

Neg space is great in #1 for me. Digging the darkest line dissecting the image.

I'd consider a black point adjustment and personally a mono conversion works best. Although I think I might have some kind of issue because if you hang around here it seems my de facto first step in reworking an image is converting to black and white.

Jeff

.edit Forgot about 2!

I like it, but would take this into more of a layered/texture abstract. See below for a crop idea. Regardless of crop I'd say you need to deepen the blacks and add some contrast.

Jeff,

Thanks for the suggestions and with the matte and frames, I can really see just how good this would look in print. I'm going to seriously need to consider printing more often in black and white. These both look awesome.

Like the captures, Mark; just couldn't resist a bit of play.

HA! The first thing I thought of with that image was a pair of lips. I spend a fair amount of time trying to pinch the sides but did not create a result I liked!

That is soooo cool! I've done a couple tiny planets before, but never thought of doing it for something more abstract. Very interesting to look at and without knowing where the image started, I think it would be very confusing for some people to figure out. Thanks for sharing the idea!

Thanks; did a lousy job of making the edge seamless for the process though. lol
