They have been on back order for quite some time. $298 with the 18-55 STM lens. $30 discount if you trade in an old Canon film camera

If you already have the lenses, the SL2 is a great deal even at its launch price of $550. Granted it is about $300-$325 more than buying the SL1 refurb and selling off the lens...

With tax, it was $285. If I can sell the STM lens for $75, then it's a $210 camera

Sure, but just remember it is the same sensor as the 2009 7D but with a lower end AF and burst speeds/buffer. It is a bit aged at this piont. I loved the 2 SL1s I had in the past, but with the newer sensor and other new features, the SL2 seemed like a better deal, to me anyways. The SL2 is a tiny bit larger though, but the larger grip is nicer as compensation.

Seems like an excellent deal on the SL1 but the SL2 is SO much better in every way (except AF) it's easily worth the extra IMHO

Fully agree, unless you are really strapped for cash (e.g. student,...) the SL2 is a better choice. I think I will replace my T3i with the SL2 to complement my 80D.

I have a problem....I have used my 1Dx and now 1DxII so much that I have come to expect their features and performance on anything I pick up and use.

If I bought one I would have to give it to my 6 year old grandson......I couldn't, rather wouldn't use it.

How can one go wrong at those prices? Makes a good backup camera. Or a gift to a youngster or relative.
