Looks pretty cool. None of these are probably for me but it's nice to see the lens development march on into the (previously) uncharted territories (f/1.4 IS lens for FF... I believe it's a first).

That 50mm TS/E is pretty crazy. That is once huge lens for a 50mm f/2.8 (considering you can buy a very sharp 40mm f2.8 pancake for $150).

I could see two reasons:
1.) It allows extreme amount of tilt and shift.
2.) It is absolutely incredibly sharp (ready for 100MPix). Would make it s great copy tool for artwork.

Or both.

Yeap.
That TS-E 50/2.8L is quite large and heavy being about the same size as the TS-E 90/2.8L and actually heavier.
There is no leaked picture for this one.

If the TSE50 has a hard infinity stop, it could be the dream lens.

Not that I'm in the market for either of these, but I wonder what will happen to 85L 1,2, AKA "The Grenade". If they'll keep it in the line up or if it will be discontinued.

Apparently the Canon T/S lenses will cover the sensor of the Fuji GFX medium-format camera, so it may not be just Canon and Sony owners buying these lenses.

I wonder also how close the T stops are on the two lenses - maybe closer than you think. It may be that practically speaking the new 1.4 lens is not much different in light gathering ability than the old 1.2, plus if it has less vignetting wide open that would affect the perception of speed as well.

Speculation is they'll keep it for the foreseeable future. It's such an iconic lens design and a unique value for the brand. That said, if the rendering qualities of this new lens are not merely clinical but exceptional, it would be hard to imagine demand for the 85L persisting over time.

I hope it doesn't go the way of dodo50/1L when a slower lens was introduced. On the other hand, I hope the price of used 85/1.2Ls drop a bit in used market.

Exactly my first thoughts. Wonder how these lenses perform on that MF body. Might be interesting.

I meant a hard infinity stop without any Tilt or Shift movement.

The gfx crowd are using a lot of Canon tse you get about half the movement because the gfx sensor is pretty small for mf

As an owner of the 85 f1.2 II it would take a bit to make me switch. I will admit the addition of IS on the new lens is welcome. My hands aren't getting any steadier.

No. For instance, on the Zeiss 50 Makro Planar, you turn the ring all the way to the hard stop and it is at infinity focus. It is very useful for quick shooting, or for night sky long exposure photography.

None of the Canon lenses have a hard stop so I find it very unlikely that these TS-Es will have it. However, most Canon lenses have very accurate infinity stops on the distance scale.

Actually, the 17, 24 ii, and 90 do have hard stops (I just double-checked). I assume that the 45 does too, although I don't have it.
