I haven't used any of those others but highly recommend the BH-40 for that setup.

I'm not sure about the Manfrotto, but the other 3 should be solid. I have a RRS BH-55, which is great. I highly recommend their gear.

I have the Manfrotto 410 Jr. It's awesome for macros, panos, and leveling tech cameras. It's also big and heavy. I'd go with a ball head for your purposes since it will be easier to adjust your angles on the fly. That may just be my supposition of how a fashion photographer shoots, though.

Honestly I've used my bh25 with a lot more weight than that. Anything from them is good. I just sold my Acratech as I was getting tired of it

I have both BH-40 and 55. Really enjoy using the 55 more. The 40 is okay, but less smooth tho lighter.

No more Manfrotto for me. I've had the 405, 410s bigger brother for 10 years now - 3 variations of it. Always when changing something one axis, there is a tiny little bit of play / movement on one of the others. For most photography, the impact is negligible, given the versatility and the convenience of the geared head - some misalignment but you can easily fix that in post (you lose a bit of resolution and your framing will be a tiny little bit different). But, for complicated stuff where precision is critical (I do a mix of flat + nodal stitching with complicated architectural elements) the 405 / 410 family just won't cut it.
I've recently switched to an Arca-Swiss p0 hybrid, and there is simply no contest. Fast, light, simple, precise, sturdy - and a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

RRS is certainly an excellent choice. However I've got a Gitzo Traveler along with a GH1382QD ballhead of theirs. What a solid yet lightweight combo indeed. It easily accommodated a A7RII along with a 24-70GM or 70-300G lens back when I had those, so I would certainly recommend that combo. The newer Gitzo heads sure are a far cry from what they used to make. I didn't care for them before, but the new one's with their micro adjustment and shear build quality and smooth action won me over. Something I'd sure recommend you take a serious look at before pulling the trigger

The last head I would get is the BH40 - it is overrated imho.

My favorite is the Q3 traveller from Markins. The P0 is a close second. Not quite as smooth.

The advantage the Q3 has over the P0 is that you can fine tune it and set it once and it will stay that way. The P0 although easy to adjust doesn't hold this specific tuning.

The acratech not my favorite either but if you plan on dragging your tripod through mud it can be a good choice as it's probably the easiest to clean.

Used the RRS, and it's certainly great, but my preference is p0. That tightening system, the aspherical ball, lightweight.... just a pleasure to work with.

I have a Markins Q3 too and I find the fine tuning to be a royal pain in the butt. The wheel is recessed quite a bit and difficult to turn. The head is stable with relatively light options like an a7rii and a lens that weighs up to 2-3 pounds, but beyond it's a challenge to really look things down, even though the head is supposed to hold up to 30kg. Granted, mine is slightly banged up, so that may have to do with this issue, but I'd still look elsewhere.

I transitioned from a Markins ballhead to FLM. I got the the CB38FTR model. Really impressed with it.

Based on how much I love my RRS BH-55, I would say go with the BH-40.
Such a solid and amazing piece of kit and an absolute pleasure to use. Had it for years and I'll probably never need a replacement. For the extra couple of bucks, get the BH-55 Luxury on sticks!

Survey says? The p0 hybrid is money wow lol...is the regular p0 just as good? I thought about just buying a gitzo tripod with a gitzo head also but I was told the p0 was better than gitzo heads.

I have been using a dual drop slot RRS BH-40 (discontinued) for 11 years and an RRS BH-55 for the last several years. Much smoother then the other heads I have.
I use them both with lenses up to 500 and 600 f4s.
One on a Gitzo tall tripod and one on a RRS tall tripod.

I have the Arca Swiss P0 and the Acratech GP, both are excellent but I slightly prefer the Arca Swiss for its compact design and the way the ball gains more tension as it moves off axis. Just a great design, IMO. I also have a Manfrotto Hydrostatic bullhead that is great for a heavy set up, but for the setup you are considering a smaller bullhead ought to work fine.

Ordering today and i think its going to be the p0. I would get the hybrid for use of the product studio & lifestyle/editorial shots but its $$$.

Following Steve's endorsement, I checked out the p0 and after finding a good deal, bought one. It's a pretty neat concept, and one that actually works.
