My 1st attempt at photographing the sun for the upcoming eclipse. Using 6"x 6" black polymer solar filter sheet in a home made filter holder from an 8' x 8" cardboard box, fits great.
Canon 600mm with 1.4x, on my 7D.

Photo looks nice. Seeing your setup would be great too.

Pat: Really nice. Just a reminder that you may not want to zoom in so tight (I don't know if what we are seeing is a tight crop or not), or you'll miss the corona...it extends out 5D or so IIRC.

I used a cardboard photo mailer envelope and cut to 5" square openings in the envelope then I cut the outside dimensions to the same as the 8" x 8" box. I taped the solar filter paper to the inside then use my stapler to staple around the photo mailer envelope. You can see a few of the staples that I did not get lined up correctly but it did not affect the image. Then I taped that to the box. I glued the flaps from the LBC box to the inner 8" opening to fill in the gaps between the box and lens hood. It is a real nice tight fit. Notched out for the lens hood thumb screw.

Both photos are a tight crop. 600x600....

Thai is a 600 x 600 crop. I wish my 600mm could get that up close...

What Pat means is that he cropped, a lot, to get an appealing up close frame filling picture here. At 840mm, even at 1200mm there is a lot of room around the sun in full frame.
The following is without cropping, but with 1.3crop sensor at 840mm:

this is 800mm, full frame camera, 100% crop:

1120mm, full frame camera, 70% crop:
