I attended a photography exhibition last night of photos taken by students of James and Karla Murray, authors of Storefront: The Disappearing Face of New York.

https://www.amazon.com/Store-Front-Disappearing-Face-York/dp/1584232277/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_img_0/146-5196009-9855449?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=9ZWQ8RSQMP7GYVPWBZK0

Loco Coco was there and I asked if I could take his portrait.

Don't know who Loco Coco is, but you made a fine capture of him.

I don't know much about art, so not sure who the the clown is either.

Mind sharing your EXIF? What throws me off when viewing this is that to my eyes that there is an focal plane issue on the right side of the portrait. It could be some weird web compression but it seems like Loco's left side is nice and sharp, but the right side is slightly less-so. Compare the irises/eyelashes and lemme know if I'm taking crazy pills.

I kinda like how you captured a quirky character in almost a generic headshot - nice little clash there.

Hey Jeff, and nice to hear your voice. From previous experience I know that parenthood can be a little distracting.

The exhibit space where I took this was poorly lit. I shot at ISO1600. I will post exif tonight, but probably shot at fairly wide F stop.

I really don't know anything about Loco Coco. He gave me his business card which I didn't look that closely at, but I think he does events and parties. Why he was at this event I don't know.

Nice capture. It seems slightly 1/3-1/2 stop underexposed to me, but that may just be my personal preference.

Just a little.

I figured as much - those damn galleries always seem to care about lighting up the exhibits the best for some reason.

Ah! I thought that Mr. Coco was a local art personality.
