I have used lenscoat lens covers in the past, as well as cheap chinese knockoffs from aliexpress. Now i recently aquired a canon 600 f4 II lens and was looking into a good quality lens cover. I find the lenscoat covers good but imho a little too pricey for the material you buy. Now i found a polish seller that is very serious about his photography as well as the accessories he sells.

I bought a lens cover from him for my 600 and have to say it fits perfectly, and i dare to say it is even better than the lenscoat version i had for my 500mm in the past. Bonus is that it is cheaper than lenscoat and i like the camo print a lot.
I might even get the rainforest camo theme in the future for when using it in the woods.

So i wanted to share this with you guys. If you are looking for a good alternative on lenscoat covers.
I see he also sells on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/usr/hubertus-85?_trksid=p2047675.l2559)

Regards,

Marcus

the question is the sourcing of the neoprene. i have dealt with it a bit and some product has a lower lifespan in use

I DIY my own from neoprene tablet/notebook cases. Make a paper template, cut the neoprene a bit short to allow for stretch, some contact adhesive and then stitch when dry.

I think LensCoat's products are a bit shoddy (though I like the shoddiness of my DIY efforts) and overpriced.

Not sure where he gets his neoprene from but when i check his feedback on ebay i see returning buyers that bought more covers over time say they are very happy with the product, so i'm not really worried about the quality. But time will tell.

Here is an alternative... used it on my Canon 500mm f4 IS II.

I was disappointed with Lenscoat on my 400 f/2.8, so when I sold it and bought the 200-400 f/4, I was looking for something better. Couldn't find it. So purchased a very light 3 X 3 foot piece of cloth from a seller in China in a camo design I liked. Added two Velcro tabs, and use it exclusively. I can ball it up in my pocked or fold io for storage. No protection from rain, but serves my purpose. Ti think it was $7 and free shipping.
