p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Nik's replacement?

Hi
I loved silver effect pro and other Nik software, especially the U point selection tech. I am bad at selection using PS and Nik's method was great.

Do you know of any other mainstream and good editing software which uses similar tech?

Thanks,
Nde

You know the Nik Collection is now available free?

https://www.google.com/nikcollection/

Why do you need something else?

I'd continue to use NIK until you can't. Just because any future enhancements have been stopped does not mean it will not work in the current LR / PS environments.

Just use NIK, it still works (almost) perfectly and it's been free for ages. If you do have unique issues you can always just install a previous version of PS so long as it doesn't cause problems elsewhere for you.

I was under impression that it doesn't work with current MacOS and adobe PS...
Google has a notification on NIK page saying it only works till 10.10...
Google:
"The Nik Collection is free and compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 through 10.10; Windows Vista, 7, 8; and Adobe Photoshop through CC 2015.
We have no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time."

It's not supposed to work on my version of PS but I just copied the Nik files into the plugin folder and it works fine.
The only thing I have to do it create my own PS layer manually then the Nik edits go straight onto that

There's also a lot of information in the other threads on this subject:

Goggle cannot guarantee that Nik will work with future OS versions as they are not going to be making modifications should that be needed. That is different than saying or assuming that there will be problems with Nik.

I like Nik but prefer the Topaz suite overall. I use whichever of their modules works the best for a given image.
