This is sizing up to be the dSLR of all time.

My biggest curiosity on the outset is if Nikon is successful in offering a smaller RAW size.

At 50MP that is doubtful

Editing D810 files is already a pain with LR as it is.

Swivel screen + D5 focusing system is interesting as hell though.

No doubt it will be sweet.
No doubt you will need the NSA's super computers to work on the files haha

Does it have sRAW? If so that would be great.
Huge files kill me everytime while editing.
LR catalogs get uber slow with D800 files in the mix.

I'm actually more currious about their upcoming mirrorless offering.

I, too, have always had an issue culling D800 files and I'm not sure why as 5D4 (30mp) files are fine. 810 files seem to move faster (1:1, DNG lossy).

I really hope there's a useable sRAW, mRAW, whatever. It would appear this will also have APS-C/DX support which I've found to be quite cool.

With Canon announcing their mirrorless sales are up 70% (even with not-so-competitive offerings), they and Team N can't be too long for some serious bodies.

Adobe admits already they are going to improve the speed and fine tune for multi core support. I would like to have the d850, but i bet it will be 3500 price tag which is no reach for me. So i have to stick with my 2 750s

d860 might be a fine camera after all the d850 bugs resolved thanks to user testing.

The only thing I'm still waiting to hear about is file size and sRaw. I've got my trigger finger ready to buy 4 of these bad boys as long as I can handle the files.

It would be great if they tell you in advance which serial numbers are defective.

SO what we have is a camera that doesn't exist, announced with no specs and no release date. Three months? A year?

What we have here is nothing more than a desperate attempt to stop people switching to Sony while they scramble to work out what the f*** to do next.

All announcements like this do to me is make me worry about the health of the company making them.

I was thinking the same thing.

A full frame Nikon with as solid build, damn near perfect handling camera (buttons/controls), with a nice tilt screen, great autofocus ,and sounds like some nice video specs as well. Sign me up.

A load of marketing waffle and some pics of the body which only show there is probably no more popup flash (uncle bob will be sad). No doubt it'll be 42-46MP, D5 af system, tilty screen.

Lets hope it is a legit new sensor and not the one from the a7rII which is two years old now.

to stabilize a 8688 x 5792 (~20x30) in the 5dr canon had to modify the shutter and slow it down to stabilize it

the wedding camera of all time is not a tripod mounted slower shutter operation where one has to elevate the reverse hand held rule

what % of the wedding business is 20x30 on tripod? my estimate is less than 1%

for $4K maybe buy 1, not 4

It's a bit of a head scratcher. Better high and low ISO quality, massive files, plus frame rate. It's as if this could service a few different photography genre pursuits (sports, landscape, wedding/portrait)

Also sounds like it's priced for profitability, where the D750 was priced for market share.

Is it possible this signals a newer era of a company with fewer bodies to pick from?

Don't worry, the naming convention will still remain as coherent as their mirrorless strategy
