Hello FMers;

I'm a long, long-time lurker but have never posted anything. This image I wanted to share, though...it certainly wasn't any skill of mine that made it, but was the makings of a spectacular morning at Moraine Lake.

I spent around two hours in this same spot, as the sun rose and touched on the mountain peaks; I have the complete time lapse. It was definitely worth having to get up at 3:30 in the morning to hustle to the top of the rock pile!

Very nice. Have you posted the time lapse somewhere?

pliukait: not quite yet; I have it in a Youtube video, but I need to add the proper attributions for the music before I can post. Will probably get to that tonight.

xterra07: what is the normal posting size here? I did 800px horizontally, because that seemed to fit in the browser best, but certainly I can make it larger.

Very well done. Is this a single frame?

Meaning is it a not blend of multiple exposures? If so, yes, it's a single shot, no exposure blending or HDR.

[edit] It does have a GND filter over the sky applied after-the-fact in Lightroom.

Time lapse is the initial scene in this video (beware; video has music, so it will make noise):

There is also a Mt. Rundle time lapse at the end. The middle is mainly badly filmed GoPro stuff that I doubt anyone here is interested in

You should post more often. This is a beautiful, crisp image with very lovely light. I like it a lot.

That's a fine shot but my 1st impression is that I need my sunglasses. My experimentation would be to darken the sky and then the spruce triangle. Maybe tone down the sunlit peaks. Lots of potential here.

Thank you for the kind comments!

psharvic: The sunlit peaks definitely need some darkening. I'll experiment with darkening the sky and trees, but to me they already look like they are in the middle-to-lower part of the histogram.
