Your Sigma 14/1.8 is about the same weight as my 85/1.2L II (1.2 kg vs. 1.0 kg), which is the largest lens that I'd normally mount on a tripod, without a tripod mount on the lens. I'm confident that my Canon DSLR mounts would handle the Sigma 14/1.8 with no problems, but I don't know about the Sony A7-series.
When I'm worried about mounting heavier lenses that don't have a tripod foot, I use a 'long lens support' made up of Hejnar and RRS components, as shown below for my Mamiya 645 A 200/2.8 APO.
