I'm about 60% sure right now. Part of me wants to go back to the Canon 400/5.6, which, despite the age of its design, is still a very strong performer, and it play well with SteadyShot. My big complaint about it was the length, which makes it hard to pack for day hikes, but the $1800 difference between a gently used copy and a new Sony GM makes me wonder if I shouldn't just suck it up and live with the Canon's length.
And then there's a the Canon 400 DO II, which I now call "the lens I shouldn't have rented," because it's exactly what I want, but I am unwilling to pay for it.
So, I'm hoping a rental of the Sony will help clarify things for me.
