Just got my Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 today. Took it on our high school senior shoot today. Used the 105 1.4E for the whole shoot until we asked her to walk towards us smiling and noticed that all the shots were a little blurry, mostly back focused. Put the Tamron on 70-200 2.8 G2 on the camera, every shot of her moving and walking was tac sharp. I'm impressed by this lens. I'm impressed with lens for sports and moving shot. The bokeh and rendering are definitely a little better on the Nikon 105 1.4E though. But that's expected. I'll be keeping both. Very impressed with the AF on the Tamron.

I want to show you something in addidtion to the previous little test...

Made a Brenizer with +/- 30 shots with each lens.
Same perspective for 200/2 and 70-200FL and closer to the model with the 105.

Beginning with the center picture of the girl, it was the same size in the viewfinder for every lens (!) (-> for this going closer with the 105)
Between the 70-200 and the 200/2 you can see the difference in DOF. (Sorry for the small pictures)
And you can notice that the 105 blurrs the background away as good as the 200, if you start with the same framing of the model. But with a different angle of view.

200/2G @f2

70-200/2.8E FL @200mm, f2.8 (Small fault of stitching with the leg)

105/1.4E @f1.4
