Okay I went to test the lens this morning and I need to redo the test as i shot jpeg only left over from a stupid red carpet event and i was lazy and shot jpeg. Also it was very cloudy. Good news is though I have a very good copy of the zoom and my Basis 25mm. I will redo the test and post. But not all is lost i did take some shots of the Nisi 150mm filter holder with a Haida CPL which is all glass and coming from my Medium Format days shooting Tech cams i used these filters a lot as they are very neutral in color casts so I got a CPL and I ordered a ND 6 stop as well. Anyway the Nisi holder is very nice as you can see and rotates very smoothly as well. It will hold two filters

Look good Guy. Were you able to test for color cast with the filters you have?

I use Haida filters too as I find they have a more neutral cast than the others I've tried and cost quite a bit less too. I've got a 10 and 6 stop filter, a CPL square filter and a 3 stop grad (all 100mm).

I just read that the Haida 150mmx150mm C-POL Filter is "Non-Coated". Did you find this to be an issue?

Hi Guy, is your CPL square or round? If I need GND filter on this holder, can the CPL and GND rotate independently?

My CPL is square so you can't rotate independently

In the past I found Haida and Breakthrough the best at being without a color cast. Lee big supper is one of the worst actually. For MF shooters wth tech cams this is a big deal. Also I would never buy any plastic filters they just scratch.

Hmmm. I am quite new to wide angle (e.g., my widest was an FE 28 until recently). But since I bought the 12-24, I am trying to get into vast landscapes. I have a single cheap B&W ND filter that's 49mm that I used on my NEX 5N and Sony Zeiss 24/1.8 in 2012 or so, but that's the only ND anything I've had (and it still works on my various 49mm lenses for my A7RII, too. But it was 3 stops. Meh.

Fast forward and I've ordered the NiSi 150 for the 12-24. I wasn't sure which filter to buy, but the Haida option was the most prevalent and had good ratings. So, I have the Haida 150mm 10 Stop ND 3.0 ND1000 on the way. It's the only one I've bought, but I anticipate bright days and waterfalls, so we'll see. I don't know how to use polarizers, but I suppose that will be my future challenge.

Thanks for sharing the experience and photos.

How is the vignetting?

I'm assuming the natural FOV and it's geometric properties would give vignetting problems at 12mm. The stronger the filter, the more pronounced.

I'm testing it in the morning. Must realize I don't have a lens profile yet for C1 but I could try Camera Raw

Did you install the gasket that came with your filter to use with the NiSi? (Does the NiSi need it even?)

I have this lens and just wanted to suggest a DYI filter "workaround." If you take a 77mm filter, put a small strip of felt tape on the sides, it will fit inside the hood and if properly done you can shoot at 14mm without vignetting. If you go to 13 or 12, the lens element pushes out too much and light sneaks in as well as vignetting starts.
I did this mostly to keep my gear streamlined but the money savings is an added bonus. I use Breakthrough Photography's 10stop filter which covers most of what I try to do.

Stephen,
Thanks for the suggestion and welcome to FM!

Can you post a picture of this set-up? Sounds interesting.

if true, that would push me in the 12-24 camp big time

edit: I do recall on old ben jacobson article where he uses the cap to adapt 100mm filters. That would be really cool as well. Not the end of the world if I cant shoot 12-16 without an ND.

Consider the Benro holder too (if it's out yet). I used that one with 150mm and a Tamron 15-30.

Wow nice idea. I have the Nisi 150 holder and filters already. But this could be a nice travel setup

My only worry is getting it evenly inside the hood

That would not be possible with this lens since the hood in non-removable. A few years ago, I modified the TS-E 17mm lens cap to use 100mm filters but this lens has no hood.
