Considering making the switch...

I'm looking at getting rid of my small Canon setup (7d + sigma 50mm 1.4 non art) for a Fuji....

I'm really looking to get a single lens with the camera for now and have narrowed it down to the following. Both run about the same total price as a package...

X-Pro1 + Fuji XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS

VS

X-E1 + Fuji XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS

Again they are virtually the same total price but if you are looking to make the switch do you aim for the better lens (18-55) or the better body (x-Pro1)?

I'd really be using this camera as an everyday camera to enjoy.

18-55 is a much better lens and that speed is hard to beat for lower light.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't switch if they were my only options.

But Tyler is right, the 18-55 is a better lens.

The X-E1 + 18-55 would probably be my suggestion. You'll definitely appreciate having the aperture ring on the 18-55, plus as TheEmrys said, the low light capability is much improved. If you could swing it, I might shoot for the X-E2, for the benefits of the newer (though not newest) sensor.

The Xe-2 has much better AF than the XPRO-1 or the XE-1
I have both the 16-50 and the 18-55.
I like both lens. I enjoy the wider focal length the 16-50 gives me

Hands ON before you buy. The size difference in the two bodies makes a world of difference in how they handle for some of us.

Don't switch to the combo's you mentioned.

The 7D is very capable, not too big, not too heavy.
The X-E1 is definitely outdated (I have one), you will be disappointed.
Probably the X-Pro 1 is outdated as well, plus you have to like the hybrid viewfinder. Try before you buy.
The 16-55 is big and heavy.

If you really want small and light, save up for the X-T20 and the 18-55 or the 35/2, a very nice combo with the X-T20. Recommended!

Wise words, I was going to suggest against the XE1 as well. Cheap, yes, but a horrible EVF ruins the experience.

I would also suggest the XE-2 if you could swing it. The latest software has given it a substantial improvement over the first generation of cameras. It also has faster autofocus.

With the new price incentives, I would look strongly at the XT1 and 35/2. Wonderful combo for $799.

Mind if I ask where this $799 combo can be found?

I think I'm just going to hang onto my canon setup for now until I have some extra cash and pick up a kit I really want.

I actually went out and bought an Em10 last year with one of the quick primes. I sold it less than a week later. I know my 7D and love my sigma 50mm, If anything I may just pick up another lens for my 7D.

I loved my 7D with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. The 7D has excellent AF with all 19 cross type points and the Spot AF is awesome.
I bought mine the week it was released in Canada. Even got a ticket for running a red light to go pick it up!

B&H and Adorama are two of the larger US retailers with it.
