Hi all,

I recently purchased a used Leica Summilux-M 50mm ASPH for a very good price after the seller discovered that there was oil on the aperture blades.

I probably should have asked this before purchasing, but would this be considered excessive oil and in desperate need of a CLA? I'm new to Leica M lenses and read that manual rangefinder lenses aren't as affected by oily aperture blades, but I don't have personal experience in judging the severity of oil.

Any feedback or guidance is much appreciated!

I wouldn't worry about it unless you see oil on the glass. In any case, you'll want to CLA the lens at some point anyways, and you can request Leica deal with the oil when they open up the lens.
