I apologize if this question has been asked before. I am curious to know if the image stabilization of the 12-100mm f 4 lens will work in tandem with the OMD-EM 1? I am aware that it does with the OMD-EM Mark II.
I did check on google but could not find the answer.

Sync-IS works with the E-M1 and 300/4 PRO:

For the 12-100 lens it only says Sync-IS works with "a compatible OM-D or PEN" camera. Based on the above information, the 12-100 PRO should be compatible with the E-M1 for Sync-IS ... but you must have the latest firmware for your E-M1:

And you can always call Olympus Tech Support (888) 553-4448 for clarification.

I can confirm from my own use that the 12-100 does provide sync IS with the EM-1 but as Bobby said, you need the lens and EM-1 to have the latest firmware.

It works exceedingly well (not so well as with the mk2 but you really need to be stretching the long, hand-held exposure time to appreciate the difference)

Thank you Bobby. I am seriously considering buying the 12-100 mm as a walk around lens (I have the 12-40mm and the 40-150mm) but this would be a convenience worth the expense
And Thank you Brian - based on both of your observations, I think I will buy that lens

I have the E-M1 and 12-100 lens combo and the Sync IS works fine.

I'll chime in as well - on a recent trip to Europe I took my Olympus gear and lighter tripod, it's first outing. The tripod got used once for a long-shutter nighttime shot, The rest of the time I found a tripod completely unnecessary, the image stabilization is that good. I took the 60 macro, the 7-14 and 12-100 zooms. While the 7-14 was great for many of the interior shots (and I absolutely love the lens), my opinion is the only lens needed for the trip was the 12-100. Of course you'll want to follow the normal procedures for lower light shooting but the results were amazing. I wish my Canon gear had this level of IS.

I just got back from a week in Iceland and got a ton of mileage from my 12-100 on both my EM1 and EM1MkII. I found that I didn't often need the extra wide angle of my 7-14 and only used the 100-400 PL for puffins and whales. It's a great travel lens if you want to keep it light

Don't forget the 7.5mm f2.0 for a compact ultra wide solution. Its relatively cheap, compact, and can take a filter.

If one has a 12-40 or 12-100, the 7-14mm would seem a bit redundant to me, in addition to being fairly large, pricey and heavy, plus it can't take filters. If anything, it would probably be shot mostly on the wider end, at least for me, so the 7.5mm is on my buy list once I find one back in stock

I would love to have a 12-100, but I have a 12-40 and a 40-150. I am avoiding redundency, and adding the focal lengths from 100-150.

If starting from scratch, the 7-14 and 12-100 are in my opinion not redundant at all but are complementary stablemates. A zoom lens eases composing, especially important on smaller sensor cameras. Lens size, price, and mass are all subjective measurements. Compared to Canon L series lenses the 7-14 wins on all 3 counts and its performance and build quality are remarkable.

About a month ago I received the 7.5mm Laowa and am delighted. I also have both the 7-14's (Panasonic and Olympus) and haven't yet made up my mind as to which will stay. I think it will be the Panasonic that will go, as the Laowa is so small and the Olympus gives me versatility when needed.

Along with the 12-100, the 7.5 makes for an ideal travel kit with a fast 25mm or 17mm for low light, and then the 100-400 for really long reach on some trips.

I also have a Panny GM-5, and sometimes carry it with the 7.5mm, 12-32 and 35-100 for an especially tiny kit in better light, but mostly I carry the 12-100 on an EM-1 and the 7.5mm in a pocket when I would not consider carrying the 7-14.
