the traditional B&W, Sepia, and the other color films modes are all based off the long standing Fuji camera files.
Acros, which is the new one, is more processor intensive, and only on the newer camera's which support it.
Acros is unique in that the grain structure and/or noise reduction, is applied differently across the images based on the exposure, so darker areas show more grain structure. This is more akin to shooting actual film and how the silver particles render.
This is also why the Acros settings done in camera look different than converting to B&W in post.
I would say if this thread is going to include non-Acros images, perhaps it should be renamed the Fuji Black and White thread and allow Acros, the other B&W profile, sepia, and perhaps other conversions done in SFX, VSCO etc...Show more →
