Reviews are very positive from reputable sources. Unless the single card slot is a total deal breaker you can't go wrong - just reading on various forums, a lot of people are WAY too hung up on that, and seem to ignore every other improvement. If you need that second slot then fine, but it's not a deal breaker for everyone and there are many convenient backup solutions available. It's a fantastic camera with a couple minor flaws that are largely overshadowed by the performance improvements. Words like crippled or downgraded are exaggerations IMHO, unless the D7200 is also crippled for not having 8FPS, the D5 meter, higher magnification viewfinder, auto AF fine tune, group AF, Expeed5, flicker detection, 4K video, touchscreen, etc. Nothing else gives you that kind of speed or functionality for the price. If your priorities are maximum resolution, dual card slots, and using AI lenses, the D7200 is still available for purchase. If you want the best bang for the buck DX camera for sports/action/wildlife in that price bracket, the D7500 is unmatched. If you can afford a D500, it's clearly better, but there is still a $650 USD difference there which buys you a very nice lens if you do not require the pinnacle of DX performance. Personally I think you will love the D7500, but only you can decide that
