I'm looking to take some of my retouching out of house. Mainly editorial/environmental portraits/ad work, I just want to be able to dump raws of the selects and get back finished files. I plan on testing a couple places out (If I'm able to scrounge a list together) out with past jobs to see how they compare etc. Searching google really only seems to yield fashion based retouching which is not what I'm after. Looking for any recommendations or if anybody else has gone this direction.

There are several good ones and everyone will tell you their favorite. Mine is
www.Retouchup.com

They are fast and will redo something if it didn't come out right. Reasonable pricing too.

Anyplace that has commercial photographers, will have professional retouchers. Chicago, Los Angeles and New York will have hundreds of them. Large cities, world wide as well.

Many developing countries have online services. PDN's print magazine used to carry many ads for these services.

All of my advertising work was professionally retouched, by local people. They are not that hard to find, just ask other photographers in your part of the world.

IMO if this is something that is for a certain project subcontracting seems logical but if it will be standard pracrice for the future then hiring a retouched and or paying for some training for your assistant todo the work makes better sense since you'll have more input of what is done with the image and or the desired outcome. Otherwise you'll be sending off images and getting back a product with there style every time that fine if that what you want.

Please note that the OP wants High End work done. So training an assistant won't work—it takes too long to do and is too expensive, plus when you get s/he trained they will leave for a higher paying job

The best bet is to hire a local professional retoucher. They work by the job, and will follow your orders. And best of all they are both better retouchers (who know all the tricks) and are quicker workers than you.
