In the past two years my dRebel T6s has been my dependable secondary/tertiary camera body after 1DX and perhaps 1DsMkII. Although not used a lot in that period of time, the little dRebel has seldom disappointed, particularly so on stationary targets. In-flight shots are obviously more difficult to pull off with it because its servo AF/tracking is of an entry level type. However, AF in general is accurate and dependable.

Granted, the camera's user interface is a bit of an irritant, and ISO should be kept at a value no higher than 1600 for best results. Be that as it may, I consider T6s to be a very cost effective camera.....a great value.

Here's a little two year retrospective presentation of shots taken with T6s and a variety of lenses.

I love the chipmunk photo. I always say most of the cameras are capable in the right hands with good glass. This is proof.

Rumor has it that the SL2, if it comes, will have the same sensor and probably the same AF. Should make a fine tertiary body.

.. That bird ? in your third shot looks to be a good candidate for an Audubon Society's "Save a Bird" ad .. as always, good capture

That "bird" is my pet Great blue heron. His name is Von Ribbentrop. In the above picture he was having a good feather shake.

That just reminds me of something else: obviously, Chipmunk is not a "stationary bird".

Some of the many poultry processing plants nearby have feather shake machines .. and I have a great recipe for Chipmunk Kabob ..

Whew, and I was almost about to buy a new 1DXII no need after seeing these and as we have been told, buy good glass first

I could say a lot of good about each image my friend but I will step up and say it is #5 that grabs me most, terrific moment, love the PP work and the restraint to not oversaturate. Fabulous capture and presentation

I miss my old 40D, I might need to go back in time.....................

Take care
Karl

Beautiful work here, Peter! The first two and last two stand out to me, but all are very nice. The first image is stunning and had me looking at it for quite some time.

Well done, Peter. Maybe one day Canon will have adequate BIF focus tracking in a Rebel.

+1 @ further proof that the old adage of "Glass Rules" is still alive and well.
Of course, you still gotta have the chops to get the shot (no matter what your body & glass are).

Yup, that's my story and I'm still stickin' to it.
