Their CAD --> USD conversion charges are going up...On top of their already inflated exchange fees.

That's it for me--no more PP.

I guess one bazillion dollars wasn't enough profit.

Same. I'm done with PayPal as well. I had made arrangements to sell a Df to a user here, he sent payment, and the fees were $80USD *more* than the already inflated fees I was expecting.

I normally get kissed before I get f*cked.

@adamo99

😂😂😂

...at least you like to!

Calling tomorrow to cancel my account.

I'm going to try Google Pay for a while I guess. (That, and only deal with established buyers/sellers...) Not really sure I have any other option.

M.

Google Pay: Purchase protection covers the entire purchase amount, including tax and shipping. Purchase protection is limited to $1,000 in lifetime claims.

If i'm a buyer, heck no. Good luck with selling it.

@Bubble

I understand the lack of protection--but most of the high-volume established buyers and sellers know one another, and will refund monies "no questions asked"--It has always been my policy, and the policy of many other stand-up individuals around.

The fact that we don't have another alternative is certainly troubling, however--Maybe if enough of us abandon PP, they will reconsider their profiteering fee-grab, and bring the numbers down to a more reasonable level.

Certainly open to alternatives...

Best regards,
Mark

My issue isn't trust with established members. It's the slim chance that something happens. If the seller gets hit by a bus or has a heart attack or an account gets hacked etc etc you might never see your money again. Obviously I'm using extreme examples, but there's a million things that could happen even with honest established members.

or package get lost in transit. You need to have both buyer/seller protection at the same time. Next time just add additional fee to your item or limit it within Canada only.

Do i like the pp fee? absolutely not. But as of now, there is no other alternative payment that will protect both seller and buyer at the same time. We're just tiny tiny small percent of user with paypal. Their entire ebay operation is base on paypal so you will have no chance of having them reconsider the fee. It suck, i agreed.

I use a credit card with PayPal which doesn't charge conversion fees. At least it solves the problem when I am the buyer.

@pizdets17

Do you mean you use a US Dollar Credit Card? (...Because if you don't, I do believe that PP withdraws the funds in CAD, and uses their own rate to convert to USD--the extra "charges" are built into the worse rates that PP uses)

Anyway, please correct me if I am wrong...

Best regards,
Mark

No I mean an Amazon Visa card, if you choose it as a default payment method and "convert with card issuer" you will pay no conversion fees on your purchases in USD. Only the actual exchange rate at that second. So you save about 3%. Plus the card gives you 2% cash back on purchases. That gives you 5% virtually eliminating PayPal fees.
