anyhow, I like to think of him as the Commander. I have photographed him each of the three years I have gone.
Gonna hold off on questions until I see if anything stands out for correction

A Mauser plunger shooter with a steam Gage, I would not want to cross this guy.

Very well done.

Awesome pose, colors, detail!!

Def one of my favorites, but do you have a little more room in the URC?

I would like to see a diff color in the BG to separate him more. He seems to blend in with the BG just a tad more than I care for. Not sure if you have latitude with the false colors in that way or not, just something that catches my eye. Also, might like just a smidgen of more negative space north or the Mauser Plunger in the ULC, if you've got it.

I might crop the bottom a touch, just below the third watch on the wristguard / canteen (i.e. above his inseam).

Tones and almost pastel colors are working really well for me on this one.
+1 @ maybe a little separation from the BG and a little more room left and right.

It's hard to tell if this was a posed shot but the lifted leg and rear swung arm suggest it was not and adds a nice dynamics to the image.

Very nicely done Scott!

Could be Ringo Starr posing for the cover of "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band"

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.

The upper left corner has been extended, constructing the end of the plunger which was cut off in the original capture. I agree it's still a bit tight.
In terms of separating from the BG, I suppose I could reduce the saturation of the some of the BG red tones to assist. Apart from reshooting, repositioning, how would you go about it (Kent, Dave in particular)?

Dave,
This IR thing seems to be growing on you....kind of steadily......

I'm no expert on making selections but I think selecting the complete weapon and the commander and inverting it to then reduce the saturation a little like you said and maybe reducing the clarity to make the BG softer as well? I'm not sure what Kent is seeing but to me it's the skin, brass on the weapon and shirt color competing with the same color tone shown on the tent material and other things in the GB?

Actually, I've always kinda liked IR images on certain subjects. It doesn't always work for my taste but on many of your shots you have nailed them IMHO. This image being one of them and that other water shot you recently posted.

I will confess that I'm not normally a fan of the "sepia ?" IR toning and typically prefer the classic blue sky and snow white leaves IR look. But again, with this image, I find it very engaging and appealing.

Where you start to lose me, in the IR world, is when you convert them into B&W's or close to it. To my eyes I have a hard time separating or seeing the depth. Not on every image though so I suspect it has to do with the subject matter. I don't know if this is because of my vision issue or if normal people see it like that as well.
